Privacy Statement

As a general rule, the owners of A.W. Reed, Ltd. and Cutter Collection, Inc. will only use information submitted to provide products and services to you. The Reed Family is very much aware of the nuisance of unwanted phone calls and the endless barrage of emails. The Family does not like this intrusion and we are certain our customers think the same way. Many retailers will ask for confirmation if you do not want your information sold to other retailers or marketers. In our case, notification is not necessary since we will not sell any customer information to anyone.

Below is a more detailed explanation of how we collect, use and disclose (under specific conditions) your personal information. We will also explain the steps we have taken to protect your personal information and the options you have regarding the collection, use and disclosure of this information. To be sure, the statement is not "fireside reading”, but we will try to make it as readable as possible for those who need this information.

  1. Registration and Ordering: As you might have noted, before ordering or using other parts of our web site, it is necessary to complete an online registration form. During this process, you will be asked to provide to us certain personal information, including but not limited to your name, shipping and billing addresses, phone number, email address and credit card number. The information is used for billing purposes, to fulfill your order, to communicate to you about your order and for internal marketing purposes.

  2. Email Address: When you provide us your email address, we may send you emails necessary to process your order or respond to a request. We may, also, periodically send out promotions and newsletters by email at your request. Instructions on how to unsubscribe are included in each email. However, you should keep in mind that it is much easier and sometimes more effective to communicate with you about your order using email.

Also, when you send an email to a friend or acquaintance using our "Email a Friend" feature, the information is used for sending that single page and then the information is discarded.

  1. Cookies: A cookie is a small data file that is stored by your web browser on your computer hard drive. Cookies enable you to place an order on our web site. We also use cookies to enhance and personalize your online shopping experience. Of course, you can set your browser to refuse cookies from web sites or to remove cookies from your hard drive, However, if the cookies are not available, we will not be able to remember what items are in your shopping cart, recognize you when you return to our web site or study how you navigate through our website and what products are requested.

Note: Our cookies will not penetrate your hard drive and mine your personal information -- they are not "spyware”.

  1. Pixel Tags: Pixel tags are tiny graphic images that tell us what parts of our web page you have visited or to measure the effectiveness of your search. Pixel tags will also enable us to send you email in a format that you can read and tell us when you opened our message.

  2. Third Party Use of Cookies and Pixel Tags: We may use a third party company to assist us with site content. These companies may employ cookies and pixel tags to determine which pages are visited, items purchased and in what amounts. The information used by these companies is not linked to any personal information collected by us.

  3. Log Files: We use IP addresses, dates, times, document requested, referring address and user agent to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to your personal information stored on our site.

  4. Testimonials and Product Reviews: If you submit a product review or offer a testimonial, we will identify you as "Anonymous”, or use your first name and/or first name with the first initial of your last name. No other personal information will be disclosed.

  5. The Question of Age: We do not knowingly or intentionally collect information on individuals under the age of 18 (the law states 13!) If you are under the age of 18, do not submit any personal information to us and, if you wish to use our web site, ask a parent or guardian to operate the site on your behalf with their personal information.

  1. Shipping: As mentioned previously, we will not sell, trade or rent any personal identifiable information about our customers to any company. However, there are instances when we have to use outside service providers. The most common example is "shipping”. United Parcel Service, the US Postal Service, Federal Express, DHL or the drop shipping services of our suppliers will be used to deliver product to you. However, we will only submit to these service providers your name, shipping address and phone number.

  2. Credit Cards: If you pay with a credit card, it is no secret that we pass this information on to financial service companies for authorization. A. W. Reed (Cutter Collection) works with PayPal. We use the most reliable and up-to-date data encryption to protect your information.

  3. Legal Requirements: There might be instances when legally we are required to disclose your personal information. This situation might arise, for example, because of a court order or subpoena served on our web site. We might also have to protect our legal rights or the legal rights of others for a number of reasons because of the use of our site to commit illegal acts such as fraud.

  1. Online: We use a variety of current technologies and processes to protect the confidentiality of customer data. Your personal information, for example, is protected using "SSL”, encryption which stands for Secure Sockets Layer. Access to customer information online is strictly limited to employees at the fulfillment center and home office who need such information to do their job.

  2. Offline: There is also the issue of securing information which comes to us by fax, phone calls, and letters or on purchase orders posted to us. Technically, these forms of communication are not covered by our Privacy Statement. Still, it makes sense to treat the collection, use and disclosure of offline personal information in the same way we handle online data -- this is what we do. Most of the personal information we gather offline is entered in our database using SSL encryption. Once the information is entered, we shred the source document. If it is necessary to hold the document, we place it in a locked file. Lastly, the server for our site is provided by a third party. Because these servers support more than one site, security surrounding the hardware and maintenance of the system is typically quite extensive. Our review of the system showed that security is more than adequate.

Users who wish to change their personal information (such as mailing or email address) may contact us by email, phone, fax or mail. Further, if you no longer want to receive our newsletter, emails or promotional material, you may "opt-out" of receiving these communications by replying with the "unsubscribe" in the subject line in an email or by requesting the change by phone, fax or mail. Finally, if you wish to disable your account to prevent any future purchases through that account, you may indicate this decision when registering or contact us by any of the means mentioned in this paragraph. Email:; Phone: 1-800-; Fax: 1-270-384-9569; Mail: 2310 Milltown Church Road, Columbia, KY 42728-5260.

If at any time, we change the manner in which we use your personally identifiable information as described in this Privacy Statement, we will notify you of the change by email. At that time, we will ask your permission to use your personal identifiable information in this different manner. If you do not agree to the change, then we will continue to use or not use your information as originally agreed.

Despite our system and the use of the latest technology, the reality is that no system is absolutely 100% secure. The losses from fraud and theft that are reported daily against individuals, business and government in this country are shocking when considering the "process" of completing the simplest transaction. The owners of A. W. Reed and Cutter Collection know the importance of customers feeling secure when ordering from us. We know the feeling because we are also consumers and will do everything necessary to make your experience with our company a secure and pleasant one.
